Masterson’s Lounge, nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my recent visit at this establishment became a nightmarish ordeal . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I experienced behind its entrance was disturbing and far below any standard .
The State of the Venue : Grimy and Neglected
From the moment I entered , it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority at this bar . The surfaces were tacky , and a nauseating aroma of old alcohol and dirty bathrooms permeated the entire pub. Emitting a scent of a mixture of human waste, putrefaction and a sickly smell. The counter , which should be the primary feature of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . Described as overly aggressive and boundary-crossing , Cornwell’s misconduct has created an unwelcoming setting for women who attend Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often felt more like that of a sweating predator than a genial proprietor .
